Time: 13:30 - 14:30
Location: RISC Seminarroom, Hagenberg
ABSTRACT: Srinivasa Ramanujan's life story and mathematical contributions are so startling that he has inspired several stage productions. This talk provides a comparative study of several such stage productions including the Opera Ramanujan, an American play on Ramanujan entitled "Partition", a Guggenheim award winning script entitled "A first class man", and the English movie based on Robert Kanigel's acclaimed biography of Ramanujan entitled "The Man Who Knew Infinity". Some glimpses of Ramanujan's mathematics relevant to these stage productions will be provided. NOTE. Professor Alladi is one of the leading experts on Ramanujan. For example, he is (founding) editor of the Ramanujan Journal.
